How To Remove Shellac

At Samsara you have the option to come in and we will remove your shellac for $10 , or you can do it at home.  All you will need is

- 100% Acetone nail polish remover ( most drug stores should carry it)

- Cotton Balls

- Aluminum Foil

  1. Tear the aluminum foil into little squares big enough to cover the top of your finger down to your first knuckle.
  2. Saturate a cotton ball with the acetone and stick it on top of the shellac, then wrap the foil around the tip of your finger and squeeze to secure it.
  3. Continue doing this to all fingers, let it sit for 10-15 min.
  4. Squeeze and twist the foil as you remove, this will pull most of the Shellac off.
  5. Use an orange wood stick to gently scrape any remaining shellac off the nail.
  6. Wash your hands and moisturize

After two weeks the Shellac may start to loosen and peel away from your nails but try not to peel it off, doing so could damage and weaken your natural nail.

If you have any other questions about Shellac feel free to call or email Samsara.

Shellac The New Manicure

My clients have been asking for years for a product that isn’t an Acrylic type of nail that does not need to be filled every two weeks but that is a stronger polish and will last and protect the nail.  If you have problems keeping your manicure looking nice for two weeks Shellac Polish may be the perfect solution for you.

Shellac gets painted on with a base coat, a topcoat and two layers of your color polish of choice. The difference with this procedure as opposed to standard practices, is that each coat is protected with a UV light that seals and hardens the polish. Most clients will have a period of two weeks before they see any changes.

The best part of Shellac, is that the client can walk out with their nails dry. The waiting under the dryer phase is wiped out! No sitting and waiting for the polish to dry or get damaged as soon as the client leaves or get into the car.My clients love and prefer Shellac as opposed to the standard manicure.

The only way to find out if you love it as much as others is to come and see for yourself. You will not leave disappointed or wishing you stayed under the nail dryer a little longer.

Cost: $35.00

Pores No More!

I Have the kind of pore’s that you can parallel park your mini-van into.  That is why I was so ecstatic to come across Dr Brandt’s Pores No More antiaging mattifying lotion for oily/combination skin.  It’s a mouthful, but it does everything it promises, helping to refine your pores while controlling excess oil and mattifying shine.  The best part is that it doesn’t dry my face out like many other pore minimizing products have done in the past, and it helps to prevent signs of aging by stimulating new cell turnover improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

It’s easy to think that if your skin is oily you do not need a moisturizer but your skin can be dry at the same time and many products that you may be using to control oil can be super drying.  If this sounds like your problem then definately give Dr Brandt a try.  I picked mine up at Sephora, It retails for around $60.00  and is worth every penny.

I don’t know who this Dr Brandt is but i just want to kiss him!

My Favorite Shaving Tools

I remember the day my mother handed me a disposable Bic razor and a bar of soap to shave my legs for the very first time. The feeling of finally becoming a woman wears off pretty fast after slicing your ankle for the fiftieth time. After many years experimenting with all types of razors and shaving creams I have found the best combination for me.

The Gillette M3 Power razor for men has to be the best razor invented. Why are they not marketing this razor to women? It vibrates which helps it to glide over your skin without nicking or irritating, and the triple blades help it to fit into areas a razor needs to fit into. It seams to me that women’s razors are just getting bigger and I find them very intimidating. My surface area is not so large that I need five blades on my razor. M3 razors can be found in most drugstores and grocery stores and retails for around $10.

Kiss my face moisture shave in my opinion is hands down the best and most affordable shaving product on the market. It is a vegan natural cleansing and moisturizing soap that contains no parabens, pthalates, animal ingredients, and is not tested on animals. Moisture shave is somewhere between a rich moisturizer and a soap and unlike shaving with oil it won’t leave a nasty ring around your bathtub. There are lots of yummy scents to chose from like cool mint, pomegranate grapefruit, lavender and Shea butter, patchouli, key lime, and fragrance free. Kiss my face products are sold at most drugstores and grocery stores and retail around 4$.

For the closest shave remember to shave your legs in the morning because your legs can swell throughout the day.

So what are some of your favorite shaving products?
